Quiet Time

She was tired of crawling back and forth across the small area the chain allowed her,

She had grown hungry, and thirsty,

The bowl of water he had  left was warm and almost empty.

She sighed as she waited, and repeated to herself “This is not a punishment”

But her lonely heart was not convinced.

She strained to hear him pulling into the driveway.
